THE TRANSITION FROM THE SECONDARY TO THE TERTIARY DENTITION
Wed May 07, 2008 6.00PM - 9.30PM
Dentistry has seen many advances in the last century. Many patients are now able to maintain and restore their secondary dentition into middle age and beyond. Despite these advances situations may arise including trauma, severe tooth wear, and breakdown of the restored elements. In these instances replacement of the secondary dentition with implant supported restoration may provide the opportunity to restore function and aesthetics. In this seminar, treatment planning and sequencing for the transition between the secondary adult dentition and the tertiary implant dentition will be explored. An overview of the current scientific support for various treatment modalities will be presented. The benefits and limitations of the treatment options available and a review of maintenance requirements will be presented.
